Instagram vs. Real Life: Why You Don’t Need to Be a Model to Have Wall-Worthy Photos

Open Instagram and you’ll find it: endless perfectly posed couples, glowing skin, curated outfits, not a hair out of place. Social media is saturated with “picture-perfect” love stories. And while they might look amazing on a feed, they can leave real couples wondering… “Will we look like that in our photos?”

Here’s the truth: you don’t need to be a model to have photos you’d proudly hang on your wall.

The Problem with Picture-Perfect

Social media can be a little sneaky. It sells us the idea that the only “good” photos are the ones where everything is flawless… Angles, poses, lighting, outfits. But the thing is… real life doesn’t look like that. And honestly? It shouldn’t.

Because the photos you’ll treasure… The ones that feel like your love story… Aren’t the staged ones. They’re the ones where you’re laughing so hard your cheeks hurt, or wrapped up in a hug that makes the world feel quiet.

What Really Makes Photos Wall-Worthy

When I ask couples which photos end up as their favourites, it’s almost never the “perfect” shot. It’s the unposed ones. The moment they didn’t even realise I was clicking away. The look they gave each other when the speeches made them teary.

That’s the magic: the feeling behind the photo. Because wall-worthy doesn’t mean flawless. It means true to you.

My Approach

I get it… Being in front of a camera can feel intimidating. Maybe you’re already thinking: “But I’m awkward. I don’t know what to do with my hands.”

Here’s the good news: you don’t have to know. That’s my job.

I’ll give gentle guidance when you need it, but I’ll never put you into stiff, awkward poses. Instead, I create space for you to just be yourselves… And I’m there to catch the joy, the movement, the in-between moments you’ll actually want to remember.

Proof’s in the Photos

To show you what I mean, I pulled together 10 photos I’d happily hang on my own walls. Each one tells a story, captures a feeling, and proves you don’t need to be a model to have photos you’ll love forever.

Because when you look back at your wedding photos, I don’t want you to see “perfect.” I want you to see you.
